Arthur De Mowbray
Arthur was born in Uruguay in 1959 and spent his childhood there, in the United States and in the UK. He studied art at Goldsmiths College in London, and graduated in 1984.

His interest in art and making has always been very broad. It ranges from sculpture in the most traditional sense to exploring the possibilities of contemporary materials such as plastics, resins, concrete and cardboard. However, it is often to wood that he returns, and refers to this as his natural medium.

Since starting his career, he has built up a body of corporate, public and private clients and has much experience in working with architects, contractors, foundries etc. Notable clients have included Unilever, Boots Corporation, the Livesey Museum for Children, Islington Ecology Centre and Sheffield Cathedral.
His expertise with materials and attitude to problem-solving has also led him to occasional stints as ‘originator’ of works for a number of big name, big budget artists. This marks a fascinating contrast to Arthur as a creative craftsman, an extremely fine carver, and a designer/maker of myriad different types of work ranging from sundials to seating to boats to gates and beyond.
