Paul Geraghty
has an amazing ability to paint the sea in all its moods and an extraordinary understanding of water. Inspired by the work of Julius Olsson, who came to St Ives in the nineteenth century, he paints large canvases which often depict a vertiginous drop to a crashing ocean and make the viewer feel as if they are literally falling into the waves. At other times he paints the water by moonlight, when the sea is a quiet, tamed and serene element.
Paul began his fine art education at Warrington School of Art, was awarded his BA (hons) at Stoke on Trent and is a postgraduate of Goldsmiths’ college. He is a member of the National Acrylic Painters Association. In 2004 he won the ‘President’s Award for best painting at the National Acrylic Painters Association’s 20th Exhibition and in 2005 was awarded the Fine Art Trade Guild Award.
