Based in Edinburgh, Martin Devine has been painting professionally for 8 years. He uses colour theory, varied use of tone and differing brushstrokes to present a contemporary image of the landscape.
He aims to change the perception of the landscape seen by the viewer. Inspired by minimalism he is spare with detail and encourages a regard for simplicity. He uses colour, abstraction and line to give distance in sky and land, sometimes altering tonal values and other times verging towards flat blocks of colour to emphasise basic shapes.
