Alison studied for her BA (hons) Fine Art in Newcastle, where she discovered her love of printmaking, followed by an MA in Fine Art at Lincoln University where she also worked for 10 years in the printmaking studio. She loves all things to do with print and collects printing ephemera, letterpress and wooden type with the idea that she may one day incorporate them into her work. She is best known for her humerous animal prints, inspired from her childhood growing up on a farm, which she produces as etchings, linocuts, woodcuts or screen prints. She enjoys the hands on nature, labour ethic and mechanicla process involved with the medium.
Her work can be found in numerous collections including that of Lord Jacob Rothschild who commissioned her to create five bronze running dogs. She has recently completed a series of illustrations for five Lloyd Alexander books for Usborne House.
