After obtaining a degree in Graphic Design, Alison worked in book and magazine publishing as a designer and then as a photographic stylist, selecting props for editorial and advertising photography. In 1996 she decided to concentrate entirely on still life painting, her primary love.
Worked in acrylics with a great emphasis on colour, texture and composition, the paintings are much inspired by her past career as a designer and stylist and her love of antique china, domestic items and fabrics. These, usually along with fruit and vegetables are painted faithfully, creating a sensuous and classic still life feel. Textures, shapes and colours are harmoniously combined to elevate the mere domestic to iconic status.
She has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad, including The Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. Her painting 'Still Life with Red Box and Cricket Ball' was awarded first prize by International Artist Magazine.
